HUML Interdisciplinary Colloquium Series
Starting in Spring 2025, the Center for the Humanities and Machine Learning will host a series of interdisciplinary colloquia for faculty and grad students with the goal of fostering discussion and collaboration on artificial intelligence as a subject and tool for humanities research. We also plan to host brief presentations about ongoing work related to machine learning by UCSB humanities scholars; please contact Owen Leonard (owenleonard@ucsb.edu) if you would be interested in presenting.
Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd from 3:00 to 5:00 PM in the Transcriptions Center (South Hall 2509). We will read the upcoming article "Provocations from the Humanities for Generative AI Research," written by Lauren Klein and co-authors, and participants are encouraged to discuss how their own research might relate to recent developments in AI and machine learning. You can find a PDF of the paper online at arXiv.
Please reach out to HUML graduate researcher Owen Leonard (owenleonard@ucsb.edu) with any questions.
